Stumbling In
by Rob Morris
Wes laughed at his more powerful companion.

"You've--got it bad for Penny."

Peter shook his head.

"A slight mutual crush. Mere curiosity. Except for a dimension and a chromosome, she IS me, after all--and I am married."

Crusher shrugged.

"I'm not saying you two were gonna do anything about it--just admit its there."

"I just did."

"Oh. yeah. Eh. You're right. Besides, neither of you would ever actually make that  plunge, commitments aside. Dimensionally, you're like her long-lost bro-----"

Peter turned and stared. Wes nodded.

"Bad choice of terms. Listen, I've got a way that might get us through the time-barrier surrounding your universe."

Kirk nodded.

Go on."

"Welll--if we use the anti-chroniton barrier itself as something to bounce against, we can invert its force and bounce right through it."

Kirk gave his considered opinion.

"You Made That Up!"

Crusher hung his head.

"Yes."

And so, they tried anyway.

A DIMENSION ADJACENT TO THE ANCIENT DESTROYER UNIVERSE

Saavik was screaming.

"Peter Kirk! What have you done to me?! I WILLKILLYOUCURSEYOUCASTRATEYOUHAARRRRRMMMMYOOOUUUU!!!!"

Through the ether, Pete and Wes could only hear the Vulcan's cries, not see or touch her.

"Peter--whatever it is you're going to do to her, in this near future---apologize!!"

Kirk nodded.

"Big time!"

Unable to make Crusher's plan work, they both departed--gladly. On the other side of the barrier--the truth was revealed.

Peter looked at his wife.

"Honey--I am so sorry..."

She looked up, love in her eyes.

"No, Peter-Kam. I am overreacting as always. After all, I am hardly the first woman ever to give birth.....SEDATIVE! I DEMAND SEDATIVE!!!!!"

 USS VOYAGER, EXACT UNIVERSE UNKNOWN

Wes cried out in anger.

"Locarno, you piece of trash!"

Tom Paris turned.

"You know Nick? You have my sympathies."

"Ohh..wait. You're that lookalike cousin of his. No, pal, you have my sympathies. How many times did he use the 'lets go that one step further' line on you?"

Paris nodded.

"Probably just as many times as he used that 'Friends stick together, but I have to bail' routine on you. Then , there was this one time...."

Crusher threw up his arms.

"You mean he had been using that line for THAT long? Geez, whata..."

"Tell me about it..."

"What about when he would..."

"And then...and then...and then..."

Departing the mess hall for the hall hall, Peter left the two greatest haters of a cadet named Nick Locarno to talk amongst themselves. Resting, he leaned against a wall.

"Lieutenant, why aren't you on duty?"

Peter took note of the woman's rank.

"Its a long story, Captain. Sometimes, I think, too long. In any event, I don't work here."

Janeway looked him straight in the eye.

"Get to work right now or I'll have you in the brig so fast, you won't know what hit you."

Peter's eyes glowed.

"Hit me? You mean...Like a Rock?"

Five minutes later, Commander Chakotay heard a knock on his port window in his quarters. He had been asleep.

"Huh?"

Outside, Captain Kathryn Janeway, dressed in an environmental suit and little else, was frantically gesturing at Chakotay. Unable to bear seeing this, he pulled down the shade,  and went back to bed.

"Aww, Kathryn...not tonight!"

Notably, Wes and Peter did NOT help this version of Voyager find its way home.
