by Rob Morris
Yesterday.

A shattered, exhausted boy held onto her for dear life, pleading with her to explain why the universe no longer made sense.

Yesterday.

A girl with no inkling of her worth looked to her for all the answers about being a living being, as well as a woman.

Today.

She said only one very small word.

"Grandma."
