Next on The History Channel:The giant armored battle-suits Hitler never had.
Anncr: The Second World War was a close enough thing, fought to the last desperate inch. But suppose Hitler's forces had succeeded in developing giant armored robotic battle-suits, such as those seen in today's Japanese animations? How would the war have been different?
Nameless Historian 1: Well, first, it should be noted, these battle-suits were barely in the sci-fi pulps of that era, let alone anything approaching reality. I mean, even to ask such a ridicu....

NH2: Oh, its impact on the war would have been great, to say the least. As seen in 'Gundam, Gundam, Gundam! XYE Devalued' just one of these mobile battle-suits could have taken out an entire advanced fleet of ships with one well-aimed nega-caster. The American and British navies of that time would have just been at a loss as how to respond.
NH3: No. If Roosevelt knew that Hitler had these on the drawing board, he would have insisted that American battle-suits be drawn up. In fact, one could foresee a final battle with the two leaders going at it in their own personal battle-suits. Of course, neither leader had any sort of pilot training, so that remains only a possibility.
Nameless really old former Nazi Official: (Translated) Well, Hitler would have rejected the idea since it came from the Japanese, who, despite the alliance, he regarded as inferiors. He would have been adamant that only German anime be used as our inspiration. Of course, we had no German anime to speak of, so this becomes somewhat problematic. Also, at that time, we barely had enough fuel to run our tanks. The fuel needs of a giant battle-suit are greater than those of your average Panzer vehicle.
Anncr: World War 2. A very close conflict--that could have been even closer.
Next on THC: Was the story of American POW's secretly running a German prison camp merely the stuff of sitcoms? Well, yes it was. But we're going to show some incredibly vague parallels. And after that -- 'The World At War'
