Seeing Counselor Kirk in the hallway just before the galley, Data asked a question."Commander, is this a bad time?"
Deanna shrugged.
"Data, since Will thinks that my decision to adopt my stepfather's name is the greatest sin since Geordi had to explain *things* to Doctor Brahms, I welcome even the most obscure distractions."
The android nodded.
"I wish you to observe a turn of the millennium Terran documentary on abusive relationships. I fail to comprehend much of it, even with my emotion chip in play, as it were."
Deanna winced a bit, but didn't back out immediately.
"Well--why don't you summarize this documentary for me, Data? That way I can see what I'm up against."
"Very well. There appears to be a prime victim of this abuse. While others are also hurt and cruelly used, this one victim is often betrayed by all his friends. He is tricked, lied to, taunted, never forgiven for his own wrongs, and yet he is expected to forgive all wrongs done against him or he is 'dwelling' to use their term. A former lover frequently taunts this one, though the break in their relationship was clearly her choice. His two legal guardians seem incapable of any emotion towards their charge but skepticism. In the final part of this lengthy documentary, he rises up to kill them all, and is acquitted by use of documentary footage. Yet the denouement took so long to reach this epiphany, it felt strained and worthless."
Deanna was now intrigued--not to mention a little disgusted.
"Data, all that sounds horrible! What is the name of this documentary?"
Data then gave the answer.
"That 70's Show."
