After a long day without her Peter, Saavik asked Amanda for some advice.

"Mother?"

"Yes, Saavik, dear?"

"I must query you about my relationship with Peter."

The Ambassador's wife nodded.

"Go ahead."

Saavik began.

"Does He Love Me?"

Amanda asked a question of her own.

"You want to know?"

She nodded.

"How Can I Tell If He Loves Me So? Can it be seen through his eyes?"

Amanda shook her head.

"I think--you'd be deceived."

Saavik sat down.

"But is it in his eyes?"

Amanda responded the same way.

"No, no--that's make believe. If you want to know if he loves you so--Its in his kiss."

Saavik raised an eyebrow.

"That's where it is? Its in his kiss? But what of his face?"

"That's just his charm."

"And what of his warm embrace?"

"That? That's just his arm."

Saavik began to understand.

"So if I wish to know if he loves me so--Its In His Kiss?"

Amanda nodded.

"That's where it is. Now what you have to do is hug him--and squeeze him tight--to find out what you want to know. If its love-- if it really is, then its there in his kiss."

"What of the way he acts?"

Amanda was now a bit miffed.

"No-NO--that's just the way--and you, young lady, are not listening to all that I say."

"So if I wish to know if he loves me so,--its in his kiss?"

"That's where it is."

And as this matter was settled, elsewhere on Sarek's estate......

"So, you don't feel that the incredible attraction between Saavik and myself is at all strange? Sometimes, I'm thrown by how much I love her--and how much she loves me in return."

Sarek dismissed Peter's concern.

"It is not unusual, to be loved by anyone..."
